Lupus doctor wanted to blame eye doctor even though the dose he gave me over the years was way too high for my size.

It is imperative that patients and physicians are aware of and watch for this drug’s ocular side effects. Retinal toxicity from hydroxychloroquine is rare, but even if the medication is discontinued, vision loss may be irreversible and may continue to progress.

How long did Plaquenil/Hydroxychloroquine take? DailyStrength Hydroxychloroquine along with 30 mg of Prednisone worked for me within 3 months and did a great job. However I had a side reaction- hallucination, so I came off the drug. Plaquenil did not work as well for me,it took about 10 weeks before I saw some effect but again I had a reaction- my fatigue got even worse and I could not stay awake.
