    Plaquenil for alopecia

The chance of helping for autoimmune (especially scarring alopecias) is high. Hydroxychloroquine does not help all hair loss types but does help conditions such as lichen planopilaris, frontal fibrosing alopecia, pseudopelade and discoid lupus.

Oct 22, 2017 Hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil is a slow acting drug. It can take up to 8 weeks or more before the medication really starts to have an effect and actually help an individual using the drug. Because hydroxychloroquine is so delayed in its onset, I usually give it 4-6 months before really deciding if it is working. and sometimes even longer. Hair loss is found among people who take Plaquenil, especially for people who are female, 50-59 old, have been taking the drug for 1 - 6 months, also take medication Enbrel, and have Psoriatic arthropathy Dec 12, 2019 Losing Hair on Plaquenil The 5 Possibilities. Dec 10, 2013 Primary cicatricial alopecia is challenging, both clinically and therapeutically, and has no known cause. The different forms of primary cicatricial alopecia all share a final pathway of areas of complete hair loss that make it impossible to distinguish many of them from each other. One of my main symptom is a severe hair loss. It's diffuse but more pronounced on top of my head At the on-set of this disease almost two years ago, I've lost more then 70% of my hair on top. I've always had very thick and straight hair, but now I can see through the scalp and the little regrowth is I have been taking Plaquenil for 2 months. This is the second time I have been on this medication for joint inflamation. I have been told I probably have a mild form of Lupus. I have an ANA of 0 and below normal Complement C3 and C4 blood test results.

Methotrexate Does it weaken my immune system? Methotrexate does suppress the immune system, but serious infections with methotrexate are not common. Your rheumatologist will monitor you closely for any side effects associated with methotrexate such as liver test abnormalities, pneumonitis, or infections. Almost all autoimmune diseases require the immune system be suppressed to some degree.
