The crazy thing about this itching is that this is the 3rd attempt back on the plaquenil and with the 1st two tries I had no itching but different side effects that made me discontinue it. The 1st time I was on it brand name 400 mg. for 8 months and had to d/c due to terrible intestinal cramping and tinnitus.

    Plaquenil is also an antirheumatic medicine and is used to treat symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and discoid or systemic lupus erythematosus. This medicine is not effective against all strains of malaria.

Oct 20, 2016 I would take that to mean that there is some improvement in your inflammatory process that is involved in the digestion and improves the nerves and muscles involved in your GI tract. I have a bad case of Sjogrens along with 4 other autoimmune diseases and 2 immune diseases. I had been on Plaquenil for around 5 years and felt it was helping.
